I see individual therapy as isolated from our other relationships. I see us try to bridge this gap by starting sentences with “my therapist told me” but the statements that follow can often land flatly. Result is a decrease in connection with the people in the present moment rather than an increase.

That's such an interesting observation! It makes me think about "privacy" and the ways in which therapy is a container for certain kinds of information. You are breeching that wall and in doing so, making that split between "care" that is daily and usual from "care" that is professionalized, among other things . . . lots here to think about.
